Aratana Therapeutics to Introduce New Beginnings in Science for Pets at the 2014 ACVIM Forum

For many inspiring musicians, Nashville is the place to get noticed. So it’s almost pitch perfect that Aratana Therapeutics – a new kind of animal health company – would make our veterinary symposium debut at the 2014 American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum being held in “Music City” this week.

Veterinarians are the very heart of animal health, standing at both the front line of medicine and the fore front of medical knowledge. Aratana is dedicated to developing therapeutic solutions for medical conditions that have few, if any, treatment options.

We’re excited about what is happening in Nashville. Here’s a glimpse of what’s being presented at the ACVIM Forum:

  • On Thursday, June 5, Nicola Mason, B.Vet.Med, PhD, DACVIM, of the Univ. of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, will present on osteosarcoma vaccine research based on her clinical work with Aratana’s cancer immunotherapy candidate.
  • On Friday, June 6, Duncan Lascelles, BSc, BVSc, PhD, CertVA, DSAS(ST), DECVS, DACVS of North Carolina State Univ., and Butch KuKanich, DVM, PhD, DACVCP of Kansas State will lead a breakfast preview exclusive on two pain management therapeutics Aratana has in development.
  • Later Friday evening, visit the wine and cheese abstract poster session where veterinary specialists can learn about the recent Aratana research study results in the treatments for osteoarthritis and inappetence for dogs.

Aratana will have three abstract posters in the small animal category on display in the Abstracts exhibit hall throughout the session. Abstracts of these posters appeared in the May-June issue of the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

If you’re coming to ACVIM Forum, be sure to stop by Booth #334 in the exhibit hall and introduce yourself. Along with providing information about us and our therapeutic pipeline, we’re giving away a free iPad mini to one exhibit hall visitor each day during June 5th through the 7th.

At Aratana Therapeutics, pets are our passion. Whether it’s the feeling you get when you hear a cat’s purr, or a dog rhythmically drumming its wagging tail against the floor, we believe the bond between pets and their families is sweet music.

Pets are family, deserving our best care. And this is just the beginning. Hope to see you in Nashville!
